Argentinian lawyer Agostina Páez, who was detained in Brazil on charges of racial slurs, spoke about her alleged encounter with actor Juan Darthés and his support during her legal proceedings.
According to Páez, she did not meet Darthés himself, but rather his wife, María del Carmen Leone. The incident took place in a bar they used to frequent with their family. Leone conveyed a message of support to her.
"She says, 'Hello Agostina, I recognized you, I wanted to come and talk to you and tell you that we are praying for you, be strong,' and then she says, 'I am Juan Darthés' wife, but not him,' the lawyer clarified.
Juan Darthes left the country following the trial for sexual abuse brought by Thelma Fardín. Thanks to his dual nationality, he moved to Brazil. He has reportedly been seen at an evangelical church in Rio de Janeiro, acting as a pastor or spiritual guru.
In March 2025, the Brazilian justice system established a semi-open regime for him, which allows him freedom during the day, with the obligation to return to a penitentiary at night.
